TELL US A MANTRA YOU LIVE BY
"Let go of your ego, let go of self."
HOW DID YOUR CREATIVE JOURNEY BEGIN?
"I first discovered my creativity when I started doing makeup in high school for my classmates. I was interested in art as a hobby and less as something that could potentially become my livelihood. Even after I left high school and started college I was a science major and wanted to be a cosmetic chemist. Soon after I started editing using Picsart and doing makeup for photoshoots, which turned into me changing my major to general art, because I realized my creativity and eye for art was too great to be just a hobby.
WHERE HAS YOUR CREATIVITY TAKEN YOU?
"My creative journey has led me to make amazing friends, have amazing opportunities to work with some of my favorite photographers, and made me become who I am today. It has helped me realize why I am here and what I am supposed to do in this crazy yet exciting world. It has showed me how to think out of the box and how to demand respect for myself and for my art."
WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?
"Me and my partner Xavier Luggage (@xavierluggage) are working on a series of nude photoshoots. We want to show the purest form of human existence and the purest form of our muses, keeping everything tasteful yet beautiful. We want to create a safe environment for our muses and something maybe our viewer has not seen before. My creative direction and styling mixed with Xaviers' eye is the perfect match for greatness."
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
"The work of artists like @___gage___, @richardquinn, @brianziff, @jean.toir, and @yiiooi are extremely inspiring to me as an artist and this is only a short list of the many amazing artists out there that inspire me every single day. What keeps me inspired is the ability to have art at my fingertips for example, having instagram and the internet keeps me constantly thinking and questioning what more I can do which, can be harmful but keeps me motivated."
WHAT MAKES THE PERFECT WORK DAY?
"A day where the models are on time, everything is well planned, and everyone is having a good time."
WHAT IS THE MUST FULFILLING THING ABOUT BEING A CREATIVE?
"Being able to express myself and how I feel, without people questioning why I think this way or why I do the things I do. Because at the end of the day my art is not influenced by what people want, it is influenced by what I want and what the people I choose to work with want."
WHAT IS THE HARDEST THING CREATIVES DEAL WITH?
"MONEYYY! Being paidddd PROPERLY for the work, effort, and time I put into projects. People are quick to ask you for free work and are quick to use you to their benefit without giving you anything in return. KNOW YOUR WORTH. You need to let people know you are to be respected and demand your respect in every aspect and every move you make in this business."
WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE?
"KNOW YOUR WORTH. I will say it as many times as i need to to get it into your head. Please do not let people walk over you because they will if you allow it. BE CAREFUL. Do not always say yes to everything because you can get yourself into some shady situations. BE RESPECTFUL. For peoples time and their work, they do not have to be there, but want to be there to help not only you but the project."
